Clinical need

The clinical challenge

Effective treatment relies on accurate identification of tumor origin
Hundreds of thousands of patients are diagnosed each year with metastatic cancer. More than 70,000 patients in the US alone are diagnosed with Cancer of Unknown Primary(CUP), where the primary origin of the metastasis is not diagnosed1. Patients undergo a wide range of costly, time-consuming, and inefficient tests to identify the primary site of origin, often to no avail2.

A better diagnostic method is needed
In this era of targeted therapies, it is more critical than ever to begin with an accurate diagnosis. However, many diagnostics currently in use are inadequate1. To identify the optimal treatment plan for individual patients with CUP (and for those who have not yet received an official diagnosis), the primary tumor site must first be identified.

Introducing a sensitive and accurate diagnostic tool - miRview™ mets
miRview™ mets is a cutting-edge, microRNA-based molecular diagnostic tool that identifies the tissue-of-origin of metastatic tumors with:

  • Accuracy
  • Efficiency
  • Validity
  • Simple interpretation
  • Quantitative analysis
  • Objective results
  • Cutting-edge molecular biology
