MicroRNA extraction
Rosetta Genomics has developed an innovative method to rapidly, robustly, and accurately extract microRNAs from a wide range of sample types. These sample types include formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE), fresh/frozen, serum, saliva, urine, and other body fluid samples.
Our ability to extract microRNA from FFPE samples is key to the clinical applicability of our cancer diagnostics1. Because FFPE samples do not require special storage, they may be held at room temperature and sent for evaluation via standard shipping methods.
MicroRNA evaluation
Once the sample is received by Rosetta Genomics, the microRNA material is extracted and quantitatively evaluated. A set of tissue-specific microRNA biomarkers is used to differentiate between mesothelioma and other cancers.
In clinical studies, the sensitivity and specificity of the assay have been shown to be 100% and 94%, respectively2.
